The 4th annual edition of Ghana Women of the Year Honors which is curated by Glitz Africa began to evolve organically with a stunning breakfast meeting for female CEO’s and Business executives at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, on the 11th of April, 2019. For sure, it was a huge platform created for women to express themselves and impact lives with their authentic stories.
In fairness, the SHE Summit followed through on the 12 of April at the Ecobank Head Office Ridge, Accra Ghana with the theme “Beyond Gender” The Guest speakers were very much alive and made a sustained effort to discuss sensitive issues which are of interest to women in general.
Ms Maataa Opare got it right from the start with a pulsating topic “Carving your Niche”. She was specific and mentioned for a fact that every woman should build on whatever knowledge they need to be confident and believe in themselves. Madam Lucy Quist was next to follow with the topic “Owning your power”; it was pretty powerful to witness events as it unfolded.
The 1st panel discussion which was made up of seasoned and successful women such as Ms Dentaa Amoateng ( Founder of GUBA enterprise), Sandra Ankobia (Lawyer), AJ Sarpong (Media personality), and Andra Anderson (Beauty and Make-Up Artist) offered an opportunity for everyone (the audience) to be felt with a touch of love, have a sense of hope and inspiration by sharing their experiences.
I had a great deal of respect, hearing all this amazing stuff from beautiful ladies who have achieve lots of things in their various fields of endeavor. As a matter of fact, the discussion revolved around women getting slots, and being able to deliver, and thereby proving themselves that they deserve it and not just because of gender parity.
The 2nd panel discussion was swiftly moderated by Rene Boateng of Rene Q with the topic “Living your purpose”. Panelist included Jackie Appiah, Dzifa Ametam (who reached out to the audience by her phone). There were Q&A sessions where the audience could ask pertinent questions bothering on their minds and make meaningful contributions as well.
The glamorous Gala which is the Ghana Women of the Year Honors was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on the 13th of April. Hosted by the beautiful Anita Erskine, the special awards night celebrated women who unreservedly use their expertise, position and influence to inspire others to make a difference in moving other women forward.
The honourees were selected by an astute board of achievers who used clear and objective criteria in ensuring that the final list comprises of the most deserving women in various fields. In all 9 different women were honored; this include Marrieta Brew Appiah-Oppong (Governance), Nana Ama Anamoah (Excellence in Media), Emma Morrisson (Corporate personality), Barbara Baeta (Excellence in Business).
