Luxury fashion brand Christian Dior unveils Resort 2020 collection desigend by the creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri at the hostoric and most splendid Palaise El Badi located in Marrakech. The reason must be very simple and straightforward. In 1960, Yves Saint Laurent one time head of Christian Dior designed a coat he named after the “Moroccan glamor spot”.
Since then Dior has undoubtably felt a part of Marrakech, that for sure is what led to the wholesome idea of bringing the authentic African print inspired Resort 2020 collection to Marrakech. Quite clear, it seems obvious, culture and luxury was in the details; a topper cut full, in textured cream silk with an enveloping shaw collar, bracelet sleeve, and a knife pleated skirt to match.
The main fabrics used were toile du jouy, the French cotton fabric toile was designed and produced in the Ivory Coast city of Abidjan by an altelier known as Uniwax. It was actually printed in one hand an eclectic mix of ochre, garnet, navy, emerald, the other navy, cream. This collection is pretty authorising, respectful, extremely beautiful and delicate.
