On Saturday, 6th July 2019 the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Mahamudu Bawumia gave the closing address at the 4-day Ghana Diaspora Celebration & Homecoming Summit ’19 in Accra. He conveyed government’s appreciation for the significant contribution made by our overseas brothers and sisters towards the country’s development.
“President Akufo Addo has demonstrated this appreciation with the structure of appointees in the first term and will continue to have such fruitful collaboration with them in diverse ways to draw signergies, tap into their invaluable wealth of knowledge, experience and human capital for the scaling up of Ghana’s development”, he pointed out significantly.
“The government, through the diaspora affairs office at the presidency, will continue to open its doors to facilitate and assist in all matters relative to diaspora affairs, both home and abroad”. He was quite specific and clear on what he said, “Government currently is putting together a draft, dual citizenship bill that will seek to address some restrictions on dual citizens relative to public service”.
The event which was proudly organised by the Diaspora Affairs at the office of the president, was also refered to as the “Year of Return Ghana 2019”, celebrating 400 years of African Resilience with the theme “Recognizing Diaspora Contributions Towards Nation Building”. The presidential gala to climax the 4-day event was held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra Ghana. See the fabulous style images below.
