Rhythms On Da Runway, the “Year of Return” edition came up on Saturday 31st August, 2019 at Christiansborg Castle Osu, Accra. Honestly, it was exciting to be part of the experience, it was Ghana’s biggest night out! The runway show was lit, a real touch of inspiration from both the emerging and established designers and everything in between.
The designers were pretty much on point and appreciated, StepHapp Ghana opened the show with some breathtaking Ghanaian smock apparels (popularly known as “Fugu” in our local dialect) after the opening act which was beautifully performed by Doris Adom-Asomaning, Nana Asase the Poet and Paulina Oduro. Abrantie the Gentleman, Ophelia Crossland and Velma’s Accessories did amazing and showcased their entirely new collections to the delight of the audience.
The rest of the designers came through with lots of attention to details, creativity and craftmanship. Designers like Yartel GH, Palse from South Africa, Mudi Africa, Lumiere Couture, were very alluring and poised. Jesu Segun London took it to a whole new level, his shoe collection was showstopping. Finally, Nineteen 57 by KOD showed class, style and elegance to close the show. He actually brought it to successful end. In all “Ten amazing Pan-African fashion designers shared one big stage as Ghana celebrated the Year of Return”.
