This year’s ‘Beyond the Return’ edition of Rhythms On Da Runway dubbed ‘the 100% GH Edition’ was incredible, it was still Ghana’s biggest night out, fashion collided with music at the Underbridge in East Legon, Accra and that was absolutely amazing. The show was hosted by our very own Nathaniel Attoh and beautiful actress Naa Ashorkoh, it was real fun to be around and enjoy the moment. The fabulous event began with a solemn tribute to the late Charismatic Speaker and founder of NDC, His Excellency former president Jerry John Rawlings.
Emerging Ghanaian designer StepHapp opened the show with some breathtaking traditional apparels, which added to elevate our cultural heritage. Next to follow was KOB Fashion, the designer brought the best in our creative and style industry, beautiful combination of colors and fabrics. Lebon Collection was stunning, lots of attention to details and craftsmanship. Luxury outfits with style, color and sophistication. Ghana’s Sima Brew wowed the audience with her lovely print inspired outfits, it was pretty exciting to see her beautiful models strutting their stuff on the runway. Fastest rising Chayuta music sung beautifully as Sima Brew showcased her collection.
Another designer who got the nod on the night was Kate O Eleganza, she made the opportunity to showcase brilliant, her new bridal outfits were classy and elegant. Womenswear brand B’venaj got it right from the start, it was perfect for her style and beauty, lots of African print inspired outfits with lace details. Guest model Aisha Yakubuu of TV 3, also rocked the runway for B’venaj.
Amongst other designers who showcased their collections, include Carlos collection, Jay Ray Ghartey, Chocolate Global, Lushlahai, Nardrey Laurent, Bespoke, Lawen Taylor Underwear, and Tetteh Pahar Designs.
The very first great musical performance on the night were gospel songs by Ceci Twum and MOG music, actually it was splendid. This paved way for the rest of the artistes to follow through with soul inspiring music to thrill and excite the audience.
To climax the event, Rhythms On Da runway led by Kofi Okyere Darko popularly known as KOD (creative director of Nineteen57 clothing line) honored two personalities with indelible footprints in Africa’s creative industry, father of fashion in Africa, Ricci Ossei and his lovely son Regginald Yaw Asante Ossei, (Reggie Rockstone) the godfather of hiplife; they recieved a posthumous awards repectively.
